ADP Funding in Ontario
Assistive Devices Program
The Assistive Devices Program (ADP), “help people with long-term physical disabilities pay for customized equipment, like wheelchairs and hearing aids. The ADP also helps cover the cost of specialized supplies, such as those used with ostomies.”
Who qualifies
To qualify, you must:
- be an Ontario resident
- have a valid Ontario health card
- have a disability requiring the equipment or supplies for six months or longer
We do not consider your income.
Who does not qualify
You do not qualify for the ADP if you:
- already qualify for or are receiving financial support for the same equipment or supplies from the Workplace Safety and Insurance Board
- are a Group “A” veteran and already qualify for or are receiving financial support from Veterans Affairs Canada for the same equipment or supplies

Other Funding
Other Funding Sources for Assistive Devices in Ontario
Ontario Works or the Ontario Disability Support Program (ODSP)
The ADP will fund 100 per cent of the ADP-approved price for those who receive assistance from Ontario Works or the Ontario Disability Support Program (ODSP). The client must advise the vendor they are receiving assistance and provide proof.
March of Dimes Canada Assistive Devices Program
March of Dimes Canada Assistive Devices Program assists adults with physical disabilities who are in financial need to purchase assistive devices that increase their mobility and functional independence.
Easter Seals Ontario
Easter Seals Ontario helps families with the cost of equipment that is required by children and youth with physical disability. Only children and youth who are registered as Easter Seals Ontario clients may apply for the Equipment Funding Program.
The War Amps - Child Amputee
The Child Amputee (CHAMP) Program offers comprehensive services to child amputees and their families, including financialassistance, regional seminars and peer support.
The War Amps - Adult Amputee
Can provide adult amputees with financial assistance towards the cost of artificial limbs and a wealth of information about life as an amputee.
The War Amps - Veterans
The War Amps proudly serves war amputees and seriously disabled veterans from past and recent conflicts with assistance in navigating their benefits and accessing support services.

Municipal Funding Sources for Assistive Devices in Ontario
City of Toronto Hardship Fund
Toronto residents not receiving provincial assistance can apply through the Hardship Fund for 25 per cent of the ADP-approved price. The ADP form and cost quotation/invoice is required as part of the Hardship Fund application
Ottawa Essential Health and Social Supports (EHSS) program
The Essential Health and Social Supports (EHSS) program helps Ottawa residents offset the 25 per cent payment for assistive devices not covered under Ontario Assistive Devices Program.
